Local Date Night Idea
Date Night. Is anyone else on the struggle bus when it comes to deciding on something fun to do with your significant other? I mean, dinner and a movie is always nice, but when you’re trying to freshen things up a bit in a relationship that has been ongoing for years, deciding what to do can be difficult. And you think, gosh, I know there are a lot of things to do in Canton, Woodstock, Atlanta, etc., but how to nail down something that is an experience? My husband and I celebrated being married 26 years this past December. That’s a lot of date nights! A lot of dinners. A lot of movies. I wanted us to do something different.
So, I got to researching and entered into the overwhelm. LOL! Living in the Metro ATL area, there is soooo much to do, so many restaurants to try, and activities to sign up for. Then, my ladies Bible study group went out for a GNO and I thought, “Yes! I NEED to share this with Curt!” It took a little convincing but I finally convinced my man that he needed to give this a go.
The big reveal? Indoor putt-putt and dinner at the Puttshack. Ok, wait! Stay with me here. This is not your average run of the mill putt-putt. This is not glow in the dark with kids running around, going crazy and screaming their heads off. This is putt-putt that has been elevated and is geared towards the adults…AND it’s budget friendly! Can I get an amen?!?
Picture this, you make a reservation online for the date and time you want to play putt-putt at $15 per person! If you would like to eat dinner there, you can also make a table reservation for either before or after your game. You can also just putt-putt or just eat here. *note: the putt-putt is budget friendly, the dinner not so much…so arrive informed ;)
You park at a conveniently placed parking garage right across the street. Maybe walk into a few of the shops as you make your way to the Puttshack. When you arrive for your appointment, you find that you can check in at the kiosks just inside the door. You enter your name and reservation number, and viola! You receive the putt-putt course name you are assigned to (they have FOUR!), and then walk to that course to check in with the attendant. You check that each player is registerd, and then you are given a club (duh!) and a ball that is assigned to you. This ball is a smart ball, y’all! No, really.
Side note: when we arrived we were early (for those that know me, you would expect nothing less, LOL!), so we walked over to their bar and grabbed a couple of adult beverages to drink while we played. He got a beer and I got my favorite, White Russian. 10 out of 10 would recommend!
Each course has only 9 holes, which I love. In normal putt-putt, I am usually tired of this game around hole 9 and then still have to suffer through the rest of the 18-hole game. LOL! Anywho…Puttshack is 9-holes. You can play holes 1-8 in ANY order. So, if you walk up to hole 1 and a group is already there playing, you can jump to a different hole and play, and then come back when it’s available. This saves sooooo much time! How many times have I felt frustrated with the outdoors putt-putt places while waiting for the party of 10 in front of us to hurry up and finish so that we can have a turn? All of them. Haha! Obviously, like with all putt-putt courses, hole 9 takes your ball back never to be seen again, so that hole is last always.
Remember the smart ball comment? So, the whole course is digitally connected. Meaning, you set your smart ball on the T and the course recognizes it. The screen pops up to show everyone’s current score in your party, who’s ball is currently in play, which hole you are at, and keeps track of all of your attempts. Gone are the tiny pencils and struggling to write on those pocket sized scorecards! How cool is that?!? Which means, the only logic you have to apply is which path are you attempting for that ever elusive hole in one?
To say we enjoyed this experience is to put it mildly. So, give it a shot and let me know what you think!
