Family Session | The Garcia Family

While I do have a photography studio in Canton, GA, it is not always the best place for a photography session. For example, for me, I love working my family photography sessions outdoors and/or at the clients’ home. At their home?!? Yep!

What does a family photography session in your home look like? Will it just be outside? Will the photographer want to come inside for pictures, too? What do I need to do to prepare? My kid(s) are ______ so I am just not sure this will work. Let’s take this one step at a time…

Outdoors vs Indoors

Ok, I’m going to tell it to you straight. I love capturing images indoors and outdoors. If we are taking photos at your home, I want to capture the essence of your family…your daily lives, your rituals, your space…everything that makes you, well, you. So, if you’ll have me inside, I will definitely take advantage. Also, it helps to create a beautiful variety in your gallery. Just sayin’!

Preparation

To prepare, obviously you and your family will need to be ready. Outfits on, shoes on (if you plan to wear them!), hair done. You will also want to ensure any pets are secured, if need be. We do not want accidental escapes or anxiety ridden pets pushed to unwanted behaviors. Now, do you need to clean? Not necessarily. When I arrive, we can do a quick walk-through and pick out the rooms to use together. Once picked, we can easily move items out of the picture area for photos, and then move them back once we are done.

My Kid(s) May Not Cooperate

Ok, lovely. Here’s the deal. Kids will be kids. Your child may be fussy, shy, bouncing off the walls, etc. Rest assured, this does not bother me. We have an hour together. I will get amazing captures of your family. Did you know, our children feed off of our anxiety, stress, anger, sadness? So as your anxiety or frustration rises, so does theirs. My best advice? Breathe. Soothe your child. Embrace their mood(s). Love them through this adventure. When you do this, magic happens and that magic will show up in your gallery in a mighty way!

I adore the time I get to spend with my clients. I love capturing the interaction between siblings, parents, and parents with children. This interaction can be magical…that magic is love. When we can all just relax and exist in the moment together…this is what I am after.

If you feel I may be a good fit for your family, I would love to connect with you. Feel free to reach out here and let’s capture some magic!
