Newborn Photography | Sometimes It Takes 2

So you have friends that had a baby and they just shared some ah-mazing newborn photos of their little peanut. You scroll through and think I want that for my peanut when they are arrive. So you make an appointment with your local newborn photographer, follow all of their pre-session instructions, pack your new baby up and head on in for what is supposed to be a glorious newborn photography experience. Baby is going to do great. Baby is going to sleep peacefully and not make a peep. Baby is going to be a dream. No poop-splosions. No crying. No jolting awake.

Dream. Baby. Experience.

Or is it?

If you are a “seasoned” parent, you know that this is not always the case. You know that not all plans go as you painfully laid out. Especially when dealing with babies. Baby may be happy at the beginning of a session and then completely melt down into a vat of inconsolable, screaming, flailing chaos. When changing diapers, feeding and consoling baby do not work, it is OK to reschedule. This does not reflect poorly on you as a parent or how you are handling the situation. Baby is just not in the mood and is saying no. Baby is the boss. Reschedule, my friend.

Looking at this peanut, you would never guess that her gallery was split over two different sessions. Reflecting back on the first session, everyone in the room could tell she was simply having an off day and didn’t feel great. Two days later, we knocked her newborn session out of the park in no time.

Reschedule. It’s ok. Better to reschedule your newborn session than to suffer through the screams, AND it makes things less stressful for everyone involved! <3
